Here's what you should expect at University! I honestly wish I had a video like this before starting university, that demonstrates all the activities and opportunities available. However, I graduated in 2020 - the year of the pandemic, so open days weren't a thing. That's why I feel so lucky to be able to take you along on a day in my life at university. I hope this video helps strengthen your decision about your future studies! On this day I met some lovely girls who I've been mutuals with for ages on TikTok & YouTube. They're still in High School, so we walked around to explore all the courses that Swinburne offers. Lucy mentioned her interest in marketing, Chloe in Communication/Fashion design and Millie in Marketing and advertising. I also picked up some media/journalism units this semester: Media Content Creation as well as Broadcast News Reporting which are the electives I'm taking alongside my Film classes: Scriptwriting and Directing: Short Film Production & Cinematography and Lighting: Film Production. We're using 16mm film this semester, I can't wait to share more on this with you 🥰 There was so much to hear, see and touch on open day. The first area was the flight simulator, where my friends and I got to sit alongside some future pilots and have a go at 'flying a plane'... you can watch to find out how that went. We got some pizza and enjoyed the positive atmosphere around us. There were soooo many people, it was crazy to see! We also took photos with Razor The Razorback (our Mascot) The girls had to leave but I ventured off to talk to some course experts, I found out more about Media and Communication (Social media, content creation), Journalism, as well as the Bachelor of Arts which can entail majors and units such as global studies, climate and social justice, criminology, indigenous studies etc. I also visited the Swinburne Formula SAE club and learnt more about how they produce amazing racing cars! My dad and brother joined me and together we headed over to the physics area, I've always had an interest in motion and energy so it was insightful watching some scientific experiments to do with those areas. The engineering room was right beside the physics show, and I was blown away by the cutting-edge technology I tried. We also witnessed an earthquake simulator in action! There was so much power in that room, at that moment I felt that anything was possible. The lovely demonstrators explained to me the reasoning behind why the buildings in the city are so loud when it's windy! This would've been super helpful to know when I lived in the 61st floor HAHA I bumped into my cheer team! We hung out for a while and talked about nationals that are happening at the end of the year in Queensland. After some more exploring of the Swintopia exhibition at the Atrium, as well as the Games and Animation rooms, I got dinner and bumped into the cheerleading girls! We had burgers together on Glenferrie Rd and then went to our weekly cheer practice. I had an amazing day and it was truly heartwarming witnessing prospective students plan their futures! Thank you for coming along with me! Lots of love xo Maskit This video is sponsored by Swinburne University. Catch up on my other university vlogs: 1. my first day of university!!
