@georgekhatiashvili66437 years ago Short version: How can former obese athlete turn back to the good swimming shape?
    The Large version.
Thanks a lot for a brilliant explanation! Now my questions with short Bio. 44 year old former water polo player, obese (190cm/125kg). I turned back to the swimming pool after 20 year break in June 2016 because of herniation of my intervertebral discs C6 and L5 with indication for surgery. I began with 1km breaststroke and now I swim (3 times a week) 3-3.5km in 75 minutes session with very short break just to change swimming gears (power pads 500m+gearfree 500m, breaststroke fins 500m and all the same with snorkel). Now I forgot about my neck pain but lower back still hurts (maybe because of fins). Since March 2017 I'm trying to swim my favorite style – freestyle, but the legs are just going out of order, I thing now my "former outstanding technic is just horrible. :( IMHO the reason is spinal disorder... I really want to learn hi-elbow technic and the upper extremities are working well but the kicks are just piece of... the only way I found is fast kicks and in result after 50m I have painful cramps. What should I do for better recovery? ...
