Her passion for music and understanding of aspects of practical rendition and theory, both from an intellectual and spiritual perspective, make her a truly holistic musician. She is a graded artiste of All India Radio, Chennai Music Lineage - The great grand-daughter of Alleppey Sri K. Parthasarathy Iyengar, Vaishnavi is ably carrying forward the family tradition of passion for and practice of Carnatic Music and Classical Dance, representing the fifth generation of performing artists in her family. She had her early lessons in Carnatic Music under her grandmother, Smt. Leela Gopalan, continued under Sri A.S.Panchapakesa Iyer, and further pursued under Smt. Vijayalakshmi Nathan of Mumbai. Since 2003, she has been receiving advanced training from Vidwan Sri Alepey Venkatesan in Chennai. Performances - She has several performances to her credit and has regaled audiences in India, Singapore and many other places worldwide. Her concerts have been appreciated by several senior musicians and connoisseurs, for the manner in which she has endeavored to imbibe the unique voice culture, crisp Raga elaboration, innovative Niraval and swara patterns that contribute to a brisk and engaging concert steeped in classicism, characteristic of the Ariyakudi School. Vaishnavi has performed in several renowned sabhas in Chennai and Mumbai, during the music season and otherwise, to critical acclaim. She has also given several thematic online concerts. Vaishnavi has accompanied her guru Vidwan Sri Alepey Venkatesan for several concerts at prestigious sabhas and assisted her Guru with lecture demonstrations. She has proved herself as a sensitive music composer scoring music for dance dramas, group ensembles and solo numbers in different languages. She also renders vocal support and nattuvangam for Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam and Dr. Jayashree Rajagopalan. Vaishnavi’s Contribution to Singapore’s Cultural Scene - Vaishnavi has founded an institution called CHETHAS - Centre for Holistic Enrichment Through Arts in Singapore where she, along with her husband Bombay Anand, impart training in Vocal music, Violin, Bharatanatyam and Yoga and conduct other knowledge-sharing sessions.
